    HealthDrive Behavioral Health Services is currently seeking a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, to work Full-Time/Part-Time (3-5 Days per Week), in Hartford, CT

We provide on-site, dignified medical care for the very deserving elderly patients residing in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals and clinics. 

     

    We are currently searching for a dynamic nurse practitioner/physician assistant to join our inpatient geriatric psychiatric clinical team. This person serves as an integral part of our mental health program, and will collaborate with physicians, social work, nursing, PT/OT, and support staff to provide high quality services to patients.  

     

    Responsibilities

    Essential Functions:

    • Assess current psychiatric status.
    • Review all current regular and prn medications, labs, x-rays and any other pertinent data.
    • Monitor psychiatric medications for effectiveness, response of patient, usage of prns and side effects. Inform patients of potential side effects of psychiatric medications.
    • Monitor the tapering of psychiatric medications according to federal regulations.
    • Recommend nursing and, when appropriate, behavioral interventions to nursing staff. Develop behavior plans as needed.
    • Oversee the treatment of a designated caseload of patients. Work with the health-care team (psychiatrists, social workers, nurses, etc.) to ensure quality patient care. Provide education and updates to families as necessary.
    • Collaborate with nursing staff if a significant change in status occurs on an ongoing basis.
    • Ensure that each psychiatric medication has an appropriate, corresponding diagnosis.

    Qualifications

    Education and Qualifications:

    • MS/MSN from an accredited college/university
    • Current State Professional License
    • Valid Driver’s License.  

    Skills:

    • Prior behavioral health experience. Inpatient psychiatric experience highly desirable.
    • Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and staff.
    • Provide clinical leadership when necessary.
    • Ability to use email, the internet and to learn other healthcare related software.
